Can bamboo flooring be sanded & refinished?

Generally speaking bamboo flooring is possible to sand and varnish. However, we would always aim to do a free site survey before we can advice on the state of your particular flooring and its potential for restoration. Because restoration of bamboo flooring require a fair bit of sanding skills and knowledge, we would always recommend the use of a professional floor sanding company like FloorWorks instead of DIY to ensure best results.
Whitewashed finish on wooden floors and how to achieve it?

Hi and thank you for your question regaring whitewashed effect on wooden flooring.
Achieving whitewashed / nordic finish on engineered oak flooring during floor restoration service with the use of either stains, lacquers or by using precoloured oil-based products. You need to be aware that there will be a slight difference in the appearance of the whitewashed effect depending on whether it has been achieved by lacquer or oil.
If you decide to seal your floors with lacquer, whitewashed effect can be done in two ways. You can either use white pigmented primer like Bona White, or you can first apply white stain on the sanded floors and then coat it with multiple coats of clear lacquer. For our wood floor restoration service where staining is involved, we rely on some of the most popular products such as Bona Create Ice, followed by the application of three coats of waterbased Bona Mega lacquer in either matt, satin or gloss finish.
If you prefer to achieve the whitewashed effect using oil-based products, then you need to be aware that this will achieve less uniform appearance.
Do you do restoration of stairs and banisters?

Yes, we would be more than happy to help with the restoration of your stairs and banisters.Bear in mind that stairs and banisters restoration is a more time consuming compared to restoration of other areas of wooden flooring as majority of the work needs to be done manually. Yes, with our floor restoration service we can remove and dispose old carpets, vinyl, laminate or wooden flooring.
How many coats of lacquer are included in your service?

For domestic floor sanding services, we apply 1 coat of primer followed by 2 coats of lacquer. You can choose from the available sheen options, which are extra-matt, matt, satin, and gloss.
For floor sanding in public spaces (offices, schools, church halls), we use 1 coat of primer and 3 coats of high quality commercial-grade lacquer. Sheen options available are extra-matt, matt, and satin.
Extra coats are available upon request, but we do not recommend more than 5 coats, including primer.

Can I book floor sanding service on a weekend?

Yes, our sanding and sealing service is available to book throughout the weekend, however these works are noisy and usually noise restrictions apply in flats and residential areas with blocks.
